All right, kids. This is um a lesson for the students that are research positions or internship position people. There’s uh under the certificate program, there’s going to be the instructions on how to do this. So, you got the WordPress instructions. This is for writing the textbook and uh doing your lessons and everything. So, we’re going to start with this. I’m going to make a new folder here. So, you guys should follow what I’m doing. I’m going to make a new folder folder. I’m calling it Plem Academy
textbook lessons. So, I’m just going to have this here. Now, I’m going to open up a new Microsoft Word document.
Let me get these ones out of here.
So, I’ll do a new document. So, you guys are going to want to format your document just like this. Uh I’m going to save this is going to be you would title it whatever the tit the title title of book is. Okay. And this is going to be I’m going to put on the desktop and hit save. And I’m going to put it over here in my textbook file. And in here I’m going to go to first I’m going to organize it by name. Then I’m going to organize it by kind so that it will separate it’ll it’ll be alphabetized and then separate the documents, text, PDFs, all that stuff. All right, we’re going to do that. So, I got the So, I got the title here. So, the first thing I’m going to do now is I’m going to go to I’m going to go to layout and I’m going to go to margins and I’m going to go to custom margins. We’re going to you’re going to pub you’re going to write this for print publication because the objective is you will publish this book and sell it when it’s done and you get to keep the rights to it. All right. So, you do this. you go you do what I just did there and change it 75 75 755 and 1 13 with a zero and a point and then a mirrored margin. So that’s going to set up for print so that when you open it up there’s a spine and the numbers are pushed out to the side and stuff. So we got that part. It’s already defaulted 8.5 by 7.5 for the size. That’s what we want for the textbook size. 8.5 by 7.5. So we got that set up. Now I’m going to do the the first thing I’m going to do is go to normal. That’s going to change the default font. See how this says Aptos up here. We’re going to choose Cambria Math. I’m going to choose font 13, just file a line. And I’m going to squeeze everything in and get rid of the spacing so that I have more control over the document. And then sometimes when you hit okay, it doesn’t save for some reason. So I always hit enter from right here. Cambria math. See how that changed to Cambria Math 13. All right. So now now I am going to after I’ve done that now I’m going to go to title and modify title and to keep with the font I’m going to keep everything Cambria math and I like to do prime numbers. You can do whatever you want. I’m going to have the title centered and this will be title of book and then subtitle of book. Okay. So, this is going to be title. And now this one will be subtitle. This one, the subtitle, I need to modify it to be centered. I’m going to center it. And I’m going to change it to font 17. I’m going to leave it gray. Okay. Then then down here you would put your author name and author name credentials area of study dot dot dot and I’m just going to center that. I’m also going to make sure that see how this is not centered here. I’m going to make sure that this is all this is all centered just just to keep it uniform. So, I’m going to leave that. Now, I’m going to hit enter. I’m going to leave one space under here. And I’m going to go to insert page break. And I am going to go back here and hit normal. So, it goes back to the left. And I’m going to type in subject section subsection.
And I am going to hit enter and do a page break. And here we’re going to have the copyright page. I’ll show you guys how to make the copyright page and all of that stuff. And so this is the first page here. You open up the book and that’s the first page you see. Then you turn it over, you see the copyright page. And then you might want to have to something else here. And then we are going to have the table of contents page. You can add a bunch of stuff in here. I’ll show you guys how to do everything. This will be a whole dedicated playlist that’ll be under research. You go to research certificate program and it’ll be a playlist of how to do this right there. And anyway, so uh moving on. I’m going to make the copyright page a header. Heading one. Now I’m going to change the heading style here. I want the headings to be Cambria Math 17. Uh maybe not bold, but black and centered. I’m going to squish it in here and bump it out so that there’s some even spacing and hit enter. So now it’s right there. Then here I’m going to do references, table of contents. We’ll have to change the font on this manually before we publish it. I’ll show you that. Now I’m going to go down here to subject and uh for subject I’m going to do heading one. And for section I’m going to do heading two. And for subsection I’m going to do heading three. Okay. I’m going to go in here and I’m going to now edit these the same way I did heading one. I’m going to make this black, but I’m going to keep this left aligned. I’m going to go Cambria math and I’m going to make this size 5 to 13 and bold and squish it all in and then bump it out for the even spacing and hit enter. I’m going to do the same thing for the subsection. But for the subsection, I’m going to keep it not bold, maybe even italicized. Your choice. I’m going to keep it at font 13. And I am going to left align that, squish it in, and bump it out. And hit enter. Enter. Okay. Okay. So there’s my sub subject section subsection. You can have sub subsection if you want. Then up here table of contents. To update this you go like this. You go update entire table. So now as you’re going through your studies you’re writing this book for PL for your uh plum academy internship. Now you can just jump right to where you want. This this book you write will be very useful. It’ll be written under my guidance under my flow. There’s a technique a process that will output a professional textbook. You get to keep the rights to it. You get to sell it and we’ll market it for you. I’m not a greedy person. I’m not a corporation trying to suck the life out of everybody. I want you to be successful and feel accomplished. All right. Now, I’ll show you guys in a different video how to fill in all of this stuff. This is just the general the general flow of it. So, the next thing we need to do is page number. So, I’m going to insert page number. And in the page number, I want it on the outside and I don’t want it on the first page. See how it’s on the outside here? And because I changed the normal font here, when I go in here, this font is the same as the whole document, Cambria Math. So then the next thing you want to do is you want to hit option G for for your copyright, whatever year you’re doing this, and student name. Maybe you put Flem Academy on it if you want. Okay, so this here I’m going to left align. I’m also going to go up here to header and footer and I’m going to do different, even, and odd. I put that back in there. And then I’m going to go down here and I’m going to right align it. So that now when you open the page, this is on the outside of the page when you open the page. Then in the header, I’m going to put in the same alignment. I’ll do plemacademy and then plemacademy.com
or something, you know, your choice. Whatever you want to put in there. Now, these I usually what I do is I change the color tone and the font size so that it’s not so aggressive like it’s a marketing tactic that’s there if people want to see it, but I don’t want it to be in their face and piss them off. But I want it to be there. Some people want it there. People want it there doesn’t but they don’t want it in their face sometimes you know now I’m gonna left align this one I’ll put uh my name author Jonathan David you know graduate graduate studies you know theoretical physics and peer math
so I’m current technically still in grad school but you know money and blah blah blah but okay so now my document is completely formatted it. You can put whatever you want in the header, footer, however you want, you know, but there’s a generalized flow to writing these solutions. And so for you guys, so your subject might be like, you know, let’s let’s I I’ll just show you guys from from from my book. You’re you’re going to have a specific guide on how to write your book mimicking how I write these books. The Plem Academy methodology of learning how to read the textbook. You’re going to take the question just like this, how I do it. You’re going to do a triple equal sign and hit enter and have the question there. And your citations will be written just like mine. It’ll be a do it’ll be a cookie cutter copy of my my work. Okay? It’s for your benefit to get to get the to get the understanding of how to be professional and organize things to get in the habit of being professional and organizing. And so you will you will follow the same flow. You’ll do the question like this. You’ll have your question here and your answer. You’ll also have literature. It’s not just problem solving. Excuse me. You’re going to have literature in there as well. And I’ll have guidance on for you on how to write the literature portion of the book. The the objective here for you is to get in the habit of writing meth methodically, algorithmically, and professionally in a way that you’re teaching yourself by teaching other people. So I wrote this lesson to teach you guys and in turn it taught me. It taught me as well. And that’s the objective for you. You’re going to learn more about the subject. You’re going to you’re going to become you’re going to gain skill sets and learn more and um this problem with this line here. No, wrong way. This sometimes you get a little bar in there and you just can’t get it out. So, if you notice how I I copied everything but the period, that period at the end was tied to that bar. Little tricks that you learn in this that I’ll show you guys. Okay. Um although I wanted that bar in there for the test. I I see now I had that in there. I forgot that’s the close off. Let me let me shift this up here for a second. So, see how your job on your first lesson is to is to create a lesson in relation to your career and educational goals like this and edit, format it just like this. You’re basically going to copy exactly what I’m doing. I’m going to guide you through it, review it, and at the end of the show, you’re going to have a textbook that you get to publish and keep that we market for you. and that you’re as you’re writing it, your own website that we supply for you with Plum Academy that will market your book, too. I’m setting it up this way because I know the cost. It’s hard to justify the cost. So, I’m trying to give you something that you pay for it. You’re paying for my service to guide you through helping you get an awesome resume and creating this product. And while you’re building it, I’m showing you how to market it. And then when you release it and you publish it, you’ll have like two years of of of an audience coming to you. It will pay for itself. It’s a very valuable service. Uh, in all honesty, proper business, I would be setting it up to where I would get the royalties on the book, but I don’t care about that. My books make royalties. I’m not That’s not what I’m here for. I’m here to actually get you guys to understand how to do science properly. I care about the future and the current state of our existence with the morons. It’s uh it’s problematic. and stealing from people and not helping people and not having a common goal of futuristic survival is going to cause us all to die. So you guys who are STEM majors, you need to really get with the program. Khan Academy, artificial intelligence, that’s not how you learn. Okay? You will use artificial intelligence, but you have to learn how to do math first. It’s not helping you understand anything. It can’t. It’s not accurate and it’s not the book that you’re in. It’s impossible. You’re just being conned. All right. So this is how you format your Word document. And the objective is that you’re gonna format the Word document. Okay, that’s lesson one.
It would be wise for you to record yourself doing it and post it on your WordPress website for record, but you don’t have to do that if you don’t want to have your face or anything on the internet. If you do it like I’m doing this and you you replicate what I’m doing and you explain what I’m doing, it’s not about having the content on YouTube to drive traffic. It’s about you reinforcing the knowledge in your head. When you explain something like this on video as a lecture, you’ll never forget it and you will immediately understand that you don’t know what you’re talking about when you try to explain this stuff. And it’s very it’s a very uh it’s a very useful way to educate yourself. I So my so for the certificates, you know, I recommend that you record this so that I so that you can post it. You don’t have to post it to the public. It would it it would help market your work and everything, but you have your own WordPress website. All the stuff that you’re going to do is going to be hosted on your individual website for the future employer to look at and be like, “All right, yeah, this person recorded themselves doing Word and explaining it, doing all these different things, all this different stuff. They clearly they clearly have, you know, experience.” You want to make sure you do it professionally because part of Plum Academy, you’re going to need to, you know, redo your social media presence to link up with your with your website professionally. You don’t have to wipe out your personal stuff. You’re just going to have to make a new professional presence. I’m going to show you guys how to do all of that. So, this is how you format your Microsoft Word document for your PLM Academy textbook.
